Katie Lin (連桂英 Class of 1986), who was the founder and the first chairwoman of Saint Mary’s University Alumni Hong Kong Chapter, untimely passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital.
Katie had devoted much of her time and painstaking effort to establish and run the Hong Kong Chapter for our fellow alumni since 2012. To name a few of her dedicated efforts, she had kindly provided a spacious conference room in her company for the periodic meetings with the committee members, found venues for the many gatherings, arranged BNUZ students to visit her company “SHK Private” (now EBSHK Private) which is one of the major financial institutions in Hong Kong.
Erin Sargeant Greenwood, Vice President of Advancement, wrote in an email to the Hong Kong Chapter, “I am sorry to hear about Katie’s passing – while I never met her, I certainly was aware of her dedication to Saint Mary’s, the esteem in which she was held by all who knew her and the importance of her leadership in starting the HK Alumni Chapter. ”
Many of our fellow alumni expressed their deep condolences to Katie’s family in our WhatsApp chat group. Peter Chow representing the Dalhousie alumni in Hong Kong also expressed his deep condolences.
William Lau, Simon Wong, Eric Mok, Stephen Lam and Jimmy Ho paid their last respects to Katie by attending the funeral service which was held on Saturday, August 25 at St. Andrew’s Church in Tsimshatsui, Kowloon.
May Her Soul Rest In Peace!
