Terry Fox Run Hong Kong 2019

Originated in Canada, Terry Fox Run is now an annual, international event to raise fund for cancer research in each participating city. This year, Terry Fox Run Hong Kong was held on Saturday, November 9 with the starting point at Renaissance College in Ma On Shan (馬鞍山啟新書院). Saint Mary’s University Alumni Hong Kong Chapter participated in this event for the first time and made donation from the existing fund to support local cancer research through this event. While participants could choose to run or walk for 3, 5 or 10 km, we chose to walk 5 km and finished in about 1.5 hours.

The starting point, Renaissance College, is adjacent to MTR Heng On Station.
We arrived around 9:15 am at the pre-registration counter which was much earlier than the official starting time of 10 am.
At the playground of Renaissance College, there were four SMU alumni participating in this event. From left: Rui (Rae) Shu, Jimmy Ho, Sammy Ho, Harold Ho
Stephen Mak, an alumnus of Acadia University, also participated in the event.
Soon after leaving Renaissance College, we proceeded to a promenade along the shore. The Chinese University of Hong Kong was visible at the opposite side of the shore.
Yes, almost there, after walking for about 4.5 km.
Several more minutes to reach the destination.
A certificate was awarded to each participant who had completed the designated run/walk.
